The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals aim to overcome global challenges such as inequality and climate change, and present the opportunity to put the world on a more sustainable path.

We have identified nine goals that directly relate to Morgan’s purpose and ambitions for creating a more sustainable world.

The environment

The UN goals covering environment and sustainability are; Goal 7, Affordable and Clean Energy; Goal 9, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; and Goal 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities.

To meet these Goals, we help our customers to manage heat and insulation to reduce their energy usage, as well as enable green energy production through wind and solar. We contribute to the electrification of public transport, reducing emissions and increasing efficiency, and we help create safer medical devices and better fire protection. Water use and climate

To support Goals 12, 13 and 6, governing Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, and Clean Water and Sanitation, we have introduced clear water, waste, and energy reduction goals to help protect our environment; including programmes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through more efficient manufacturing processes. By 2030 we are aiming for:

  • A 50% reduction in scope 1 and scope 2 CO2 emissions
  • A 30% reduction in water use in high and extremely high stress areas, and;
  • A 30% reduction in total water usage.

Safe, fair and inclusive workplace

To support Goal 3 - Good Health and Well-Being, Goal 5 - Gender Equality, and Goal 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth, by 2030:

  • We are reducing our lost time accident rate to 0.10
  • Introducing measures so that 40% of our leadership population will be female, and;
  • We are aiming to achieve a top quartile engagement score
