The consumption of energy is of key importance to the metal casting industry, with most energy expenditure – 55 per cent - occurring during the melting process. However, until now it has been difficult to find data relating to energy use and crucibles, and so to assess the cost of crucible ownership in a way that includes energy savings. That situation has now changed, with a comparative study revealing that Morgan Advanced Materials' Salamander® silicon carbide (SiC) crucible performs particularly well in terms of energy consumption. Furthermore, changes made to the crucible in light of the study mean that the resultant energy-optimised Salamander® SiC may offer very considerable savings to foundries, through its increased energy transfer capability.
Morgan Advanced Materials has launched a new range of stopper rods (monoblock stopper for cast iron applications).
Morgan Advanced Materials has made two new additions to its extensive range of crucible coatings for the foundry sector.
Morgan Advanced Materials offers gold assay fusion and cupellation furnaces, crucibles, and cupels, ideal for quantitative and qualitative analysis of mined ore samples in the gold mineralization industry. Morgan’s excellent manufacturing quality, superior technical service and responsive lead times, have led to recognition as a leader in the supply of crucibles to non-ferrous metals industries worldwide.
Trials of an alternative thermocouple sheath have delivered significant cost and time savings for a components manufacturer which caters for some of the world’s leading automotive industry operations. In tests carried out at its plant in Aurangabadin India; High Technology Transmission Systems Pvt Ltd found that thermocouple assemblies supplied by Morgan’s Molten Metal Systems business outlasted even their manufacturer’s estimated operational life, far out-performing the existing solutions available to the company.
Morgan’s Molten Metal Systems business announces its HotRod™ pyrometry sheaths and other pyrometer assembly products, which protect thermocouples in furnace heating control systems. Industry proven for over 30 years, the pyrometer assemblies are made of a durable, erosion-resistant clay-graphite mix with special plasticity properties, which is then extruded into the proper shape.
Morgan Advanced Materials has announced the launch of its new generation of degassing rotors for secondary aluminium processing applications.
The Molten Metal Systems business of Morgan Advanced Materials, has further extended its acclaimed Syncarb® Z2 crucible family with the introduction of a new crucible designed to provide longer service life and increased energy savings for customers in the aluminium processing industry.
