Morgan Advanced Materials Recommended by CDP for Carbon Performance and Climate Change Disclosure

10/10/2013

Morgan is one of 11 companies from the FTSE350 to feature in both CDP’s Carbon Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) and the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). This is the second consecutive year that Morgan has featured in both of the CDP Leadership Indices

The CPLI highlights Morgan as one the companies in the FTSE 350 that have demonstrated a strong approach to climate strategy and emissions reduction in their CDP responses.

The CDLI index highlights Morgan as one the companies in the FTSE 350 Index which have displayed a strong approach to information disclosure regarding climate change. Companies are scored on their climate change disclosure and high scores indicate good internal data management and understanding of climate change related issues affecting the company.

Both indices, compiled by PwC on behalf of CDP, provide an evaluation tool for institutional investors, based on analysis of the responses to CDP’s 2013 questionnaire.

Mark Robertshaw, Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Advanced Materials commented: “As a high-tech global materials company we are delighted to be recognised again by CDP as being one of the leaders in the FTSE 350 in both carbon-related performance and disclosure. Across Morgan we are working to minimise our environmental footprint and that of our customers through our world leading high-temperature insulation and related technologies that improve energy efficiency.”

Paul Simpson, chief executive officer of CDP, commented:
“Companies in the Climate Performance Leadership Index are demonstrating a clear commitment to manage their greenhouse gas emissions and take action on climate change. Organizations which work to reduce their emissions and integrate climate change issues into their business strategies have the potential for cost savings, revenue generating opportunities and, ultimately, a more resilient future.

Companies that make the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index have demonstrated strong internal data management practices for the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and energy use. They are also giving clear consideration to the business issues related to climate change and their exposure to climate-related risks and opportunities. This is vital to realising greater efficiencies, protecting the business from risk and capitalizing on opportunities.”
