Morgan Advanced Materials to highlight locomotive insulation and motor brushes at Railway Interchange 2013

24/09/2013

Morgan Advanced Materials will be highlighting lightweight insulation and DC motor brushes for locomotive applications at the Locomotive Maintenance Officers Association (LMOA) Technical Program – RSI Convention 2013, which will be held as part of Railway Interchange 2013 taking place between Sept 29-Oct 1, 2013 at the Indiana Convention Center on Booth # 5646.

On display at the booth will be patented Molded Min-K® Insulation, a lightweight microporous material ideal for protecting data storage devices for event recorders.
Compression resistant and with low thermal conductivity, Molded Min-K is excellent for high-temperature applications where low thermal conductivity plus space and weight savings are a critical consideration. It is available in boards and shapes and can be machined to customer specification.

Also to be showcased is Kaowool® Tank Car Blanket, a specially developed fire protection insulation solution for the locomotive sector. Lightweight, with low thermal conductivity and heat storage, Kaowool Tank Car Blanket is accepted for use as thermal protection for DOT specifications 105, 111, 112 and 114 tank cars and in systems listed in American Association of Railroads’ "Specification for Tank Cars." Produced from high quality alumina-silica fibers, the material provides excellent resistance to chemical attack and is unaffected by oil or water.

Morgan will also be displaying DC motor brushes for locomotive applications, as well as overhead and 3rd rail current collectors and grounding brushes for electric locomotives and transit cars. Morgan's global network delivers regional support and supply of carbon brushes, commutation system components, earthing brushes, third rail collectors, pantograph collectors and diagnostic equipment to assist with motor maintenance.

Experts in helping customers choose the right products for specific applications will be at the booth, ensuring benefits such as low commutator wear, maximum brush life, and outstanding motor performance are achieved from our carbon brushes.
