Purpose
Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is an important part of our strategy. We are committed to reducing our absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 from a 2015 baseline.

Performance
Total emissions were 145,137 tCO2e, a 5% decrease from 2024 and 58% decrease over our 2015 baseline.

Our net zero roadmap

Achieving net zero requires long‑term planning and investment

Morgan’s net zero roadmap outlines the steps we are taking today to decarbonise our operations, while supporting customers to reduce their own environmental impact.

Preparing for the future 2025 - 2027

Identifying the big scope 3 contributors and solutions to help us decarbonise. GBU Glidepaths to decarbonise. We will also deliver on our water usage commitments.

·       Conversion of some low temperature furnaces to electricity

·       Development of scope 3 emissions strategy

·        Life cycle assessment on some products

·        Engineering solutions to increase energy efficiency and water recycling

·        Inclusion of a shadow carbon price in capex business cases

·        Investing in R&D for carbon-free furnaces

Scaling up 2027 - 2030

Starting to invest in decarbonising our business and value chain.

·       CapEx identified to address high emitting Thermal Oxider with improved technology.

·        Further conversion of lower temperature furnaces to electricity.

·        Drive more efficient use of higher temperature/high emitting equipment.

·        Working with our value chain to reduce scope 3 emissions.

·        80% of our electricity is renewable and nuclear.

Investment in key technologies 2030 - 2050

Investing in new technologies to transition the business to a greener future.

·        By 2030 we will reduce our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50%.

·        We will source 100% renewable and nuclear-backed electricity.

·        We will reduce our scope 3 emissions by 15%.

·        Conversion of higher temperature furnaces to electricity/alternative low carbon fuel.

·        Working with our value chain to further reduce scope 3 emissions.

·        Conversion of remaining furnaces to carbon-free alternatives.

·        Our ambition is to reach net zero scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2050.

We are committed to supporting cleaner, more efficient technologies while transforming our own operations to achieve net zero.
